The River Elves live on and along the rivers. Sometimes they live along the banks of the river, some on boats upon the river and in some cases castles that lay across the river beneath which the river traffic flows. They are excellent sailors but seldom go beyond the realm of their local waterway. Which, however, they know like the back of their hands.

Unlike the Hill Elves who can be a very reculsive folk the River Elves by the nature of their situation are a very open and flowing people. In fact, they really shouldn't be thought of as one people, as say the Japanese are, but rather an eclectic gathering of those drawn to the river. Just as Americans are an eclectic assembly of cultures drawn from around the world. The River Elves accept all who come to them and those who stay in time become River Elves as well.

Their philosophies of magic are based on the river as well. They speak ever of the ebb and flow and the seasons of magic and the secret undercurrents of which one must ever beware, as well as, the sand bars that will beach you and the hidden rocks that will rip you asunder. The way to deal with these obstacles they say, is always courage, knowledge and caution.The rivers branches into way tributaries....
