The Sea Sprites were a cross between the faeries and merfolk and had tales of fish and wings of faeries and could leap and fly for significant lengths upon the sea. They were born at the beginning of the third age when shape shifting was common and interbreeding easy; for it would not be until the fourth race that spirit would be infused into that most material of all realms and true species differenciation solidified making cross breeding out of species genetically impossible.

As a form the Sea Sprites, like the Satyrs, Centaurs and Merfolk and some others could not reproduce their own form but would instead create either a faerie or a porpoise like being. Thus as the fourth age emerged these beings had to choose between human and water mammalian bodies. Some went one way others another.
Today those in human form can often be found near or on the sea. Quite often interacting with their cousins the porpoises. They often love to water ski or do other sports that give them a sensation of flying or skipping across the sea. Surfing is, of course, very popular among them, as is snorkeling. They will work in a variety of settings but the luckiest (by their reckoning) work for marine research centers and sometimes aquatic entertainment parks.
