Porno

As
with so many things
Dearest Kindred,
these elves view of pornography differs somewhat from the
traditional and common view of the meaning of that word. Most folks
seem to consider images of nudity and sexual activity as being pornographic,
but to these elves, those are both natural and perhaps even so,
just good clean fun. We elves love sex, sexuality, sensuality, nudity
and all the joyous things, such as romance that go with it.
It is not that we dont believe there is such a thing as pornography,
for we do, but to us pornography involves the glorification of rape,
torture and non-consensual sex and relationships. Wed even
go so far as to say that films that glorify wars that involve conscripted
participants are pornographic. For us anything that promotes the
idea of people being compelled to do things they do not wish to
do and that are not beneficial for them as a positive value is degrading.
It is not that we dont believe that people have a right to
defend themselves, for we very much do, and we are surely
inspired by the courage that promotes elves to rise voluntarily
in defense of their people and their principles, but in a truly
Elfin world, such things will be issues of the past and we will
have moved on to a realm where serial killers, car chases and gratuitous
violence will no longer serve as entertainment, in fact, will no
longer exist at all. In that world, there will be no rape, no robbery,
no murder, and no war. There will, however, be lots of sex, creativity
and romance and it is surely true there will be films and books
about these things, it is more likely that we will be spending so
much time doing them that we will spend a good deal less time reading
about them.
Thus, too, elves are less likely to debate if same sex marriage
should be permitted as to wonder whether marriage itself has any
viable basis. In our minds, if people love and are devoted to each
other they stay together, if not, they go their separate ways. It
does not matter to us if people are monogamous, polygamous, polyamorous
or whatever; what matters always to us is not how individuals arrange
their relationships as how they treat each other. Love, affection,
kindness and caring are the underlying basis of all truly elfin
relationships.
Nor are we opposed to prostitution, although in a truly elfin world
it is unlikely that prostitutes could make any money charging people
for what is available for free everywhere.
Of course, we do not live in a truly elfin world as yet. As well
we know. And we are ever aware of the compromises and accommodations
we must make for living in harmony with all manner of folk normal
and otherwise. There is much that must remain secret among us, much
that only the initiate will know, much that must await till that
glorious day when we are once more among our own kind and free,
at last, to truly be our own true selves.
Kyela,
The Silver Elves
