The Path of the Illusionist

is the way of Glamor and Glamoury. The elfin illusionists deal primarily with the appearance of things. They are Masters of the magic of Glamour and experts at creating just the right atmosphere and ambience for any occasion. In the play of life, it is they who create the props, the sets, the costumes and the music. They are masters of mood. The purveyors of the vital elements of set and setting.

There are surely some who would be of the opinion that the work the elfin illusionist does is unimportant or even evil. But the elfin are aware of how much these things add to the success of any venture. It is rather like a play... it is true that a good play with good actors requires neither costumes nor props nor scenery nor any outer accessory and yet how much is added to the play, how much is its effect heightened when we have those very things done well?

The elfin illusionist also has the knowledge and power of camouflage and protective coloring. Often we find these magic workers among those who must frequently go among mankind and other races... for they are adept at fitting in and appearing to be just like everyone else. This, at times, can be an important function for nearly all elfin and while we are not all experts, like the elfin illusionists, the most of us do have some experience and knowledge of these powers.
It is these very magicians who in fact protect Faerie from intrusion or even being found by those who are not ready for the splendor and wonder of that radiant plane of being. Our rangers often utilize these very powers when they are functioning as Elfin Ninjas, slipping silent and unseen as they pass through the world carrying out their missions.
Paradoxically, it is also the elven illusionists who help reveal to those who are ready the illusionary nature of seeming Reality. For they know better than anyone how illusionary that world is. Thus curiously the illusionist not only performs great feats of illusion but by doing so makes us aware that they are illusions and that things are not always, or perhaps, not ever, what they seem.

To most folk, Elfin its'elf is illusion because it seems to be a realm born of and composed of fantasy and this has truth to it. But it is a fantasy that has life in the realm of Spirit and Soul and these worlds while invisible to ordinary sight are the true energetic reality and the realm of materiality which seems so solid and real is, in truth, the real world of illusion.

The Challenge: the question is?

Can you make use of the glamour without becoming trapped in it? Few can. Observe Hollywood to understand the truth of that statement. Illusion has its uses... protection, entertainment even inspiration. But it is so easy to become ensnared by our own fantasies and many times even easier to be captured by others fantasies about us. You must be strong indeed and incredibly clear sighted to tread this path successfully. There are so many threads being woven and of such wonderous colors, it is hard not to get entrangled.

If you have aspects of your personality that still hungers for recognition, that longs to prove you are worthwhile or better than others, eager to demonstrate that "they" were wrong about you... you're lost already. Don't tread here. To survive this path you must be free of s'elf importance. Who are you really?

The Magical Act: what to do.

Create an Elfin environment. Decorate your home, your space, your land, a room... create the look of Elfin so that those entering this space will believe they have been transported to a new world... which, in fact, is the truth behind the illusion.
