The Path of the Herbalist

is the way of healing with Herbs. The wisdom of the plant and mineral kingdoms have ever fascinated the elfin and there are many of us who work in close cooperation with the elementals of those realms as ancient traditions note. It is believed by the elfin that the cure for every disease can be found among these realms if we are only open to their wisdom and guidance.

Plants and minerals not only have healing and health giving properties but they also are quite knowledgeable and are willing to guide, help and enlighten those who seek their counsel. They are repositors of great power and they are willing to share this power with those who commune with them.

The path of the herbalist
The elfin herbalists often grow their own herbs as well as search the wilds for them. They also become experts in the various means and effects of mixing these herbs together. It is not uncommon for elves to be students of ancient chinese remedies, in fact the ancient elfin Taoist magicians were among the first to study, classify and formula- lize recipes for herbal tinctures and concoctions.

Elfin herbalists deal not only with healing herbs and health giving plants but also culinary herbs and those of a revelatory and transcendental nature as well. For communing with the spirits of the plant kingdom is the essence of the herbal pursuit.

The ancient traditions that write that the Elf and Faerie folk are the caretakers of the plant kingdom are very accurate and even in human bodies we still carry on these traditional ways. There is something in our elfin natures that has always inclined us toward deep inter-relationship with the flora. It is surely part of our genetic make up but more than that, if the ancient stories are to be believed, it is a spiritual directive, an ancient Dharma accepted and undertaken from the earliest days of life upon this planet and in many ways the earliest "raison d'etre" of the elfin. It was why we were created in the first place... so there should be little wonder that the elves are still so inclined.

We still remember within our inner being, our lives as we progressed for aeons of incarnations through the mineral and plant kingdoms. We know we were plants and trees for ages long past and have great sympathy and connection to our brothers and sisters of the flora who will thems'elves in aeons to come in future incarnations of the Earth develop into animals and other beings of increasing awareness and intelligence.

The Challenge: the question is?

Do you love plants and herbs? Love talking to them? Love learning about them? Love to discover what they do? That's essentially what it is all about. This is not a path with a large ego payoff in terms of the 'world' so it seldom happens that someone whould tread it for reasons other than an inner drive to know and to help others with that knowledge.

Among the elven, this is a highly respected path and actually quite a popular one. The more daring of its practitioners plunge into the deserts, jungles and rain forests of the world to find those rare and mysterious plants that grow only in isolated places and which may hold the key to the health of the body, the mind or the soul. Is this the way for you?

The Magical Act: what to do.

The study of plants and their properties can absorb a lifetime and beyond. One who has a thorough knowledge of herbs can help and heal and perform incredible feats of magic transforming people's lives for the better.

To connect with herbs is to commune with the elementals who live in and through them. And with their assistance one can accomplish almost anything.
