The Dwarves, also called Dwarrow or Barrow Elves, are considered by some to be dark (thus more material) elves come into being in the late third and early fourth (atlantean) race. Having arisen later than most faerie life and in the fourth most material of races, their concerns have ever been of a more material nature. They have a love of power and wealth, particularly precious metals and jewels.

This however will not always be the case and is not necessarily true of all Dwarves. For in time they will and have evolved into more spiritualize beings for whom material things will be a convenience rather than the main pursuit of life.

Many write of a long standing enmity between elves and dwarves and if this is the case the cause has been principally a conflict about trees. Many Dwarves view trees as a mere resource to be used while Elves tend to honor trees as living sentient beings in their own right. This conflict, too, will pass. For the Dwarven will in time realize the sanctity of all life and the necessity of the living forests. Then their minds will turn to what they do best, which is creating works of great artistry and beauty.
