The Bean Sidhe (pronounced Ban She) are related to the Sidhe. Bean Sidhe means "woman of the faeries" and they are noted for bringing news of impending death to mortals. The Ban Sidhe are the earth Sidhe. The Sidhe came here from another planetary scheme that accidently was destroyed but the Bean Sidhe were born of the Sidhe here on Earth... sometimes due to the marriage of elves and men. Since the Earth is conceived of as a feminine planet, they were "feminine" Sidhe. Also, they evolved after the Sidhe who had been unisexual subdivided into gender diversification near the end of the third root race.

Also, the word Ban in English means both to summon and to be restricted or limited. Thus the Bean Sidhe were those who had heard the "Call" or summons but who were yet limited in powers due to their position on the evolutionary cycle. Note also the world Banns which is the announcement of an intent to marry. Thus indicating that the Bean Sidhe were the intended of the Sidhe. Being born in the third age, they were more solid and thus prone to shorter lives, therefore the reference to the wailing concerning impending Death.
