The Daoine Sidhe (pronounced theena she) came there from another planetary system. They were on a course of evolution similar to what had been initiated on the earth however, they were a bit further along when a cosmic "accident" occurred which destroyed their system and they were allowed to complete their progress here. In a certain way, it was like high school students who, because their school was destroyed in a tornado, wound up being placed back in grade school, thus giving the Sidhe a head start and advantage over the newly awakened souls of earth.

These beings are often found among the "elite" and priviledged of the earth. For by right, they can claim such positions. And in nearly any country they are the "intelligensia". Note the similarity between the word Sidhe and Siddhi, the hindu world for "powers". For these are indeed powers upon the earth. The most advanced of these have renounced these privileges in the spirit of equality and fairness and having done so have gained in spirit what they have given up in material advantage. What distinguishes these folks is that while they are often found among the poor of the earth they, none the less, have a s'elf confidence and dignified and noble demeanor that marks them as the equals, if not superiors of presidents and kings.
