The Wood Sprites were born of the third age from the intermingling of the tree beings and the pixie folk. These were energetic beings who loved playing around among the trees. Quite often they would spend their entire lives in the tree branches. Many of them eventually evolved into monkey beings. The Hindu tales of Hanuman and the Chinese tales of "Monkey" refer to the "kings" of these folk.

Many present day (this writing taking place while the 5th subrace of the 5th root race is dominant) Wood Sprites spend their time protecting the forests of the world from destruction. You can find them protesting the actions of loggers and logging companies around the world.

Because of their sparkling personality and excited dispositions and bouncy demeanor, Sprites can often be found in the entertainment industries. Also, due to the energetic and enthusiastic nature of their being, they tend to be thin and wiry. They are always "on the go" and lead extremely active lives. They are not gypsy types since they tend to be attached to a particular forest. But within their own areas, they are very mobile and ever on the move.
